Making Public Education Inclusive to Marginalized Learners

Publish Date:

This fifth issue of the TPA Now! Special Education and Health Policy Edition highlights efforts to make public education inclusive to marginalized learners. It shares existing efforts of the government, as well as lessons learned by Multiply-Ed on what civil society can do to make schools more inclusive based on the experience of Gayon Albay LGBTQ Organization Inc. (Gayon). Gayon is an organization whose mission is to empower local LGBTQIA+ communities in the Bicol Region.

It also offers analysis and recommendations on how to make public education more inclusive based on Multiply-Ed monitoring and problem-solving sessions, featuring a case study on G-Watch’s long-time work to help establish a school in Marufinas, a remote indigenous people community in Puerto Princesa.

TPA Now! Special Health and Education Policy Edition is a collection of news features and policy briefs on education and health. It covers actions, issues and agenda central to two ongoing major initiatives of G-Watch: PRO-Health and Multiply-Ed.

It consists of five issues covering the agenda of nutrition, teaching quality, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), inclusive education and mental health.

Bearing G-Watch’s 25th year logo, this TPA Now! special series also forms part of the year-long celebration of 25 years of G-Watch in advancing transparency, participation and accountability, now expanding its application to as many sectors and agenda critical to ordinary citizens.
