Government Watch (G-Watch) is an independent national citizen action and research organization for accountability that aims to contribute to the deepening of democracy through political reform and citizen empowerment. G-Watch has had two decades of experience in citizen monitoring and action research on transparency, participation and accountability.

G-Watch is looking for an additional core team member, who can do all-around work - primarily to assist in the administrative part of G-Watch work and also to assist in the research and technical aspects of G-Watch work.

Responsibilities and Tasks

The Program Assistant shall have the following functions and responsibilities listed in order of priority/ focus:

  • In general, assist in the administrative and financial management of G-Watch
  • Assist in processing administrative papers and government requirements
  • Assist in bookkeeping, recording and preparing reports on financial transactions
  • Provide logistical and administrative assistance to G-Watch Center events and activities
  • Help in organizing and maintaining/ safe-keeping G-Watch equipment, facilities, knowledge resources and work spaces
  • Assist in the conduct of monitoring and advocacy activities for regular programs
  • Assist in data-gathering and research activities for regular programs whenever time permits
  • Assist in the preparation of technical outputs for regular programs whenever time permits
  • Attend events and activities of G-Watch and its partners
  • Assist the G-Watch convenor-director in the performance of her duties and responsibilities
  • Do other relevant work to help ensure regular G-Watch programs achieve their objectives

Level of Effort, Timeframe and Fee

The base pay for the post is Php18,000 monthly inclusive of all taxes and benefits. This is not a formal employment (i.e., there will be no employee-employer relationship). G-Watch is a fluid organization embedded in accountability collectives, informal citizen formations and social movements.

G-Watch Center work is output-based and mission-oriented. The working hour is flexible, but it is expected that members complete expected/ pending outputs every month. While this is expected to be a full-time post (100% Level of Effort), additional workload and compensation may be added to the personnel if (1) new projects/ funding comes and (2) the staff proves able to effectively deliver his/ her expected outputs and contribute more to the team.

Qualifications

  • College graduate of any course that will allow him/her to perform the responsibilities and functions above
  • Can multi-task and perform both administrative and technical tasks with ease
  • Can write decently and complete any output with due diligence
  • Experience/ background/ interest in accounting/ bookkeeping is not required, but a plus
  • Experience in research and writing is not required, but a plus
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the organization and can commit to the G-Watcher’s Creed (https://g-watch.org/about-us/g-watchers-creed)
  • Based in Metro Manila, but willing to travel to different parts of the country
