Call for Applications: Job Opening

Government Watch (G-Watch) is an independent national citizen action and research organization that aims to contribute in the deepening of democracy through the scaling of accountability and citizen empowerment. G-Watch has more than two decades of experience in citizen monitoring and action research on transparency, participation and accountability. It is currently present in numerous localities all over the Philippines with partners and allies from civil society, government and international development community.

G-Watch is looking for documentor-writers for several of its initiatives. The documentor-writers will be tapped either on output-based basis or as a member of the project team depending on the availability and track record of the document-writers.

Responsibilities and Tasks

The Documentor-Writer shall have the following general functions and responsibilities listed in order of priority/ focus:

  • Document specific events or activities or series of events or activities
  • Help gather data through interviews, focus group discussions, consultations and/or participant observation
  • Co-develop documentation plans and ways to systematize data-gathering from events, consultations, actual observation, etc.
  • Write specific parts of reports and papers as discussed/ planned out with the team
  • Rewrite/ refine specific parts of reports and papers in response to comments
  • Attend relevant events and activities of G-Watch and its partners

 

For those to be tapped on a regular terms basis:

  • Help in organizing and maintaining/ safe-keeping G-Watch knowledge resources and database
  • Assist in the conduct of monitoring and advocacy activities for regular programs
  • Assist in data-gathering and research activities for regular programs whenever time permits
  • Assist in the preparation of technical outputs for regular programs whenever time permits

Level of Effort, Timeframe and Fee

To be discussed with the team if qualifications and track record meet G-Watch’s requirements. Applicant's qualifications and past experience will be considered. Terms can be output-based or with regular days within a given timeframe depending on the need and the applicant's preference.

Qualifications

  • College graduate of any course that will allow him/her to perform the responsibilities and functions above
  • Has track record/ experience in documenting events and activities
  • Can write well and complete any output with due diligence
  • Experience in research is not required, but a plus
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the organization and can commit to the G-Watcher’s Creed (https://g-watch.org/about-us/g-watchers-creed)
  • Willing to travel to different parts of the country
